Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body and enhanced mental clarity.

Shiatsu Massage is a Japanese form of massage. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words – “shi” (finger) and “atsu” (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body.Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.Shiatsu is done with clothes on, usually on a padded mat, but may be done on the massage table. Clients are advised to wear loose, comfortable clothes. Each session of Shiatsu lasts approximately one hour, including consultation.

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function. This session will include stretches that may be done during and after the massage. So please be sure to have loose comfortable clothes.

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body. Trigger points are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and or emotional stress.  They are tender areas of tension that occur in the belly of the muscle tissue.  They may also be the cause of referred pain.  The referred pain is usually steady, dull and aching , often deep.  It my occur either at rest or on movement, however usually in a predictable pattern.
During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points. This type of massage  can be quite painful at times and requires the client and therapist to communicate about the intensity of pain or discomfort. I will work with you to maximize the effectiveness of this treatment.  The effects of a treatment such as this are lasting and profoundly helpful in releasing those area that you “can’t quite put your finger on”.

An ear candle is a long hollow tube tapered to fit comfortably into the outer ear canal.  The large end of the candle is lit and the smoke spirals down through the ear canal warming and softening ear wax.  Also aids in evaporating excess moisture.  Ear Candles are believed to help relieve earache pain and help relieve pressure in the sinuses.

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses liquid plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds from plants for the purpose of enhancing a person’s mood or health.  You can choose which oil you would like to add to your session.

Cupping A type of treatment that helps soften long standing muscle tightness, adhesions and loosen tight muscles where other massage techniques have not been enough.  This can help with treatment of chronic injuries, which have responded to treatment, but keep coming back.  Cupping brings blood back into an area which has become stagnant, this is done by creating a suction using glass cups.  Keep in mind that bruising may occur.
